COSCO Shipping Lines has officially launched its new CPV container service, establishing a direct maritime link between Asia and the Pacific Northwest region of North America.
The inaugural sailing departed on 23 January 2026 from Yangpu International Container Terminal in Hainan, China, aboard the COSCO Santos. The vessel is carrying a mix of cargo including seafood, chemicals and transshipment goods bound for key gateways in Seattle, USA and Vancouver, Canada.
The CPV service enhances connectivity by offering a more direct and efficient route from major Asian export hubs to the Pacific Northwest, bypassing the need for extended feeder transshipment. It is also expected to shorten transit times by up to seven to ten days compared with existing alternatives, improving supply chain reliability and lowering logistics costs for shippers.
Industry analysts say the launch signals COSCO’s commitment to strengthening its transpacific portfolio as global trade patterns continue to diversify, particularly between Southeast Asia and North America’s west coast markets.
