In a leap toward Smart Manufacturing and Automation Excellence in India, Daifuku Intralogistics India Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan-based Daifuku Co., Ltd., inaugurated its state-of-the-art Mega Factory at Chandanvelly, Hyderabad on 21st April 2025. This landmark event marks a strategic expansion of Daifuku’s presence in India, reaffirming its commitment to supporting intralogistics innovation and manufacturing excellence in the region, with a vision of ‘Making in India, For India’.
The celebration commenced with a traditional Factory Inaugural Pooja at 8:00 a.m., followed by the hoisting of the Indian national flag and a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, plaque unveiling, and tree plantation ceremony. Guests gathered at the auditorium for a cultural invocation, featuring a Ganesh Vandana, and a ceremonial lamp lighting by the Board of Directors.
The welcome address was delivered by Asim Behera, CEO of Daifuku Intralogistics India, setting the tone for the event. A captivating sand art performance and an inspiring keynote address by Hiroshi Geshiro, Group CEO of the Daifuku Group, followed this. He officially launched the Mega Factory, joined on stage by Srinivas Garimella, Chairman of Daifuku Intralogistics India, who addressed the gathering. The program concluded with a vibrant cultural performance themed “Colours of India”, the distribution of mementoes, and a heartfelt vote of thanks by Naoyuki Ando, Executive Director.
Located at Plot No. 6/1, IP, Chandanvelly (V), Shabad Mandal, Sangareddy, Telangana, the Mega Factory spans a substantial industrial estate, equipped with advanced manufacturing systems and live demo zones. It is designed to accelerate the company’s ability to deliver customised, high-efficiency solutions for clients in e-commerce, automotive, FMCG, and warehousing. A guided tour of the new factory was organised for the visiting guests from India and Japan.
“This factory reflects our continued investment in India’s growing industrial ecosystem,” said Asim Behera. “It will serve as a centre of excellence for innovation, talent development, and customer-centric solutions aligned with global standards.” Daifuku, with its diversified business, entered India in 2005, offering its automation solutions to Maruti Suzuki. In 2014, they started their storage automation solutions, and today, they are a frontrunner in ASRS solutions in the country.
Recognising the importance of developing local manufacturing capabilities, Daifuku acquired Vega Conveyors & Automation, which became part of Daifuku Co., Ltd. in 2020. Today, Daifuku Intralogistics India specialises in turnkey warehouse automation solutions—conveyors, sorters, AS/RS systems, and controls—designed and built to meet the evolving demands of Indian and global industries. With the new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, Daifuku is expected to localise 95% of its manufacturing in India.
