    Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today (12.02.2025) with Ujjas Mahila Sangathan (UMS), a leading Kutch-based women’s organization, to establish a dedicated centre for women empowerment in Gopalpuri as part of DPA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Ujjas Mahila Sangathan, which has been working for women’s economic, social, and political empowerment since 1989, will utilize the centre to provide skill development, livelihood training, legal aid, and health awareness programs. With a total funding commitment of ₹119.48 lakhs

    The centre is set to Start Working in March 2025, will be housed in the renovated Kendriya Vidyalaya building at Gopalpuri, which will be handed over to Ujjas Mahila Sangathan in few days. 1200 Women’s shall be trained in various treads enable them earn livehood. After first year, Ujjas Mahila Sangathan will manage the centre on a self-sustaining basis, ensuring long-term impact. This partnership underscores the shared vision of Deendayal Port Authority and Ujjas Mahila Sangathan for uplift women in Gandhidham and surrounding areas, offering them opportunities to become self-reliant and address development challenges.
