The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has successfully inaugurated the PRANAAM Seafarers Assistance Counter, a dedicated single-point support facility aimed at enhancing the welfare and travel experience of Indian seafarers transiting through the airport.

The PRANAAM initiative has been designed to offer timely assistance, clear guidance and on-ground facilitation to seafarers, addressing challenges commonly faced during airport transit. By providing a centralised support mechanism, the counter is expected to ensure smoother travel, quicker resolution of issues and improved accessibility for seafarers at a key international gateway.

The facility will assist seafarers with travel-related concerns, documentation guidance and coordination with relevant authorities, reinforcing the Government of India’s continued focus on seafarer welfare and ease of movement.

The inauguration of the PRANAAM Seafarers Assistance Counter marks another significant step by DG Shipping towards strengthening India’s maritime workforce support ecosystem, recognising seafarers as essential contributors to global trade and the nation’s maritime growth.
