DP World has extended its concession to operate the Multipurpose Terminal at the Port of Luanda in Angola by 15 years, taking the agreement through 2051.
The extension strengthens DP World’s long-term presence at one of Angola’s key maritime gateways and supports the operator’s plans to continue investing in terminal infrastructure, equipment and operational capabilities.
The Luanda terminal handles containerised and general cargo and plays an important role in supporting Angola’s international trade. Continued investment is expected to help improve handling efficiency and strengthen the port’s ability to accommodate growing cargo volumes.
DP World has been expanding its logistics and port network across Africa as trade flows increase and countries invest in infrastructure to improve regional connectivity. The extended concession provides the company with a longer horizon to develop the terminal and support supply-chain growth in Angola.
For Angola, the agreement is expected to support the continued modernisation of port operations and improve the country’s connectivity with international shipping networks. Efficient maritime infrastructure is particularly important for reducing logistics costs and facilitating imports and exports.
The longer concession period could also encourage additional investment in the terminal, including technology, equipment and capacity improvements. DP World is expected to work with local stakeholders to enhance the terminal’s operational performance and strengthen Luanda’s role as a regional logistics gateway.
