DP World’s Shipping Solutions AMEA business will launch a new weekly container service, the China Africa Link, in late November 2026, strengthening maritime connectivity between the Far East and key markets in East and Southern Africa.

The new service is designed to provide customers with greater shipping options, improved market access and more resilient supply chains amid growing trade flows between Asia and Africa.

    China Africa Link: Service Rotation

The service will connect major Chinese ports with key African trade gateways through the following port rotation:

Shanghai – Ningbo – Nansha – Port Klang Westport – Dar es Salaam – Maputo – Singapore – Shanghai

The service will carry a range of cargo from China, including machinery, electronics, construction materials and automotive components. It will also facilitate African exports such as agricultural products, minerals and other commodities.

    Strengthening South–South Trade Connectivity

The new service reflects DP World Marine Services’ Connected Trade Corridors approach, which integrates maritime services, port infrastructure and inland transport solutions to develop more efficient, flexible and interconnected trade networks.

The launch also complements DP World’s investments in African port infrastructure, particularly in Mozambique and Tanzania.

In Mozambique, DP World is investing US$165 million in the expansion of the Maputo container terminal, a project aimed at more than doubling its handling capacity. The company has also committed over US$500 million towards modernising the Port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

DP World Focuses on Reliable Shipping Connections

Ganesh Raj, Global Chief Operating Officer of Marine Services at DP World, said that changing global trade patterns mean customers need more than shipping capacity, including reliable connections, greater choice and the flexibility to adapt to evolving market requirements.

He said the China Africa Link brings the Connected Trade Corridors approach to life by developing smarter and more flexible shipping networks that help keep cargo moving and support the continued growth of South–South trade.

The new service is expected to strengthen trade links between China and African markets while expanding DP World’s integrated maritime logistics network across the region.
