In a major step towards redefining port logistics, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), BEML Limited, and UMEANDUS Technologies to develop and deploy a Next-Generation Cargo Evacuation System at the port.

Under this partnership, DMRC and BEML will bring their proven expertise in large-scale infrastructure and transport engineering, while UMEANDUS — an innovative technology solutions company — will provide an automated cargo evacuation system capable of handling both bulk and containerized cargo directly from the berth.

The pioneering solution aims to revolutionize cargo movement by enabling automatic cargo exchange between ships and shore, thereby eliminating traditional berth usage constraints. It also reduces the dependency on draft along the coastline by facilitating operations in deeper waters.

Designed for both brownfield and greenfield port projects, the system promises to enhance port capacity manifold, improve turnaround time, and minimize environmental impact.

With its scalability and transformative potential, the technology is already being explored for adoption by other major ports across India.

This landmark collaboration reflects DPA’s commitment to driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in India’s maritime logistics ecosystem.
