DSV is expanding its Air ThermoDirect network with a new direct connection between Luxembourg and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), strengthening temperature-controlled air freight services for pharmaceutical and healthcare cargo.
The new service operates through multiple departures on dedicated freighter aircraft, giving DSV greater control over scheduling, routing and cargo handling. The company said the expansion responds to growing demand for reliable pharmaceutical logistics and strengthens connectivity between Europe and Asia.
Shanghai Pudong is a major hub for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical cargo and provides access to the wider Chinese and Asian healthcare markets. DSV is working with Eastern Air Logistics and China Eastern Logistics Cold Chain to provide specialised ground handling and cold-chain infrastructure in Shanghai.
The Air ThermoDirect solution uses modular thermal packaging and temperature-controlled handling to maintain cargo integrity while reducing reliance on active containers and conventional passive packaging. DSV says the approach offers greater flexibility and scalability for sensitive pharmaceutical shipments.
The Shanghai expansion follows DSV’s earlier additions to its healthcare air freight network, including a direct Luxembourg–Indianapolis connection launched in June. The company also plans additional US routes as it continues expanding its dedicated pharma air cargo network.
The latest expansion strengthens DSV’s ability to provide end-to-end temperature-controlled logistics for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, while improving connectivity between major global healthcare production and consumption centres.
