DTDC Express Ltd., one of India’s leading integrated logistics companies, has launched its first all-women-operated dark store in Indore, marking a major step forward in the company’s mission to merge operational innovation with gender empowerment in India’s evolving logistics sector.
The 700 sq. ft. facility was inaugurated by Mr. Ajay Sukhwani, Vice President and Head of Integrated E-commerce Logistics, and Mr. Jayant Parekh, Regional Business Head. Entirely staffed and managed by women, the store handles a full range of operations including warehousing, last-mile delivery, cash-on-delivery collections, and client servicing.
The Indore dark store forms part of DTDC’s rapid commerce service, DTDC Raftaar, which focuses on hyperlocal deliveries within two to six hours. Designed for scalability, the store integrates advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), a Last-Mile Delivery App, and real-time order tracking. Before launch, the all-women team underwent rigorous training on DTDC’s digital systems and operational protocols to ensure high efficiency and accuracy in rapid delivery fulfillment.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abhishek Chakraborty, CEO, DTDC Express Ltd., said,
“We’re delighted to launch our all-women-operated dark store in Indore, which we proudly refer to as our ‘Dream Store’. This initiative represents the endless possibilities ahead for the logistics industry. Empowering women in logistics is not just about inclusion; it’s about building stronger, more agile teams that deliver innovation and passion. Our Dream Store exemplifies how operational excellence and human-centric values can thrive together.”
He further added that as DTDC enters its 35th year, the company is reimagining its network to cater to the next phase of India’s growth.
“The rising demand from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities will be driven by shared ‘Dream Stores’ and smarter unit economics, making same-day delivery viable across multiple categories. Through DTDC Raftaar, we’re offering ‘dark store as a service’ to help D2C and mid-sized brands deliver faster without heavy upfront investments. The Indore Dream Store brings this vision to life — where inclusivity, innovation, and speed converge.”
Echoing this sentiment, Ms. Ankita Tiwari, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), said,
“At DTDC, we are not just opening new facilities — we’re opening doors of opportunity. Diversity and inclusion are part of our purpose. The all-women-operated dark store in Indore reflects our belief in empowering women to lead from the front while creating equitable workplaces that inspire and innovate. It stands as a symbol of confidence, capability, and limitless potential.”
With this launch, DTDC strengthens its commitment to promoting gender diversity and innovation across its operations. The company already operates dark stores in key Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Cochin, Bhopal, Kanpur, Nagpur, Udaipur, and Meerut, reinforcing its position as a pioneer in India’s express logistics and rapid commerce ecosystem.
