India’s engineering goods exports recorded strong double-digit growth in September, highlighting the sector’s resilience and competitiveness in the global market, according to the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC India).
The performance underscores the strength of India’s engineering industry amid evolving international trade conditions and changing global demand. Engineering goods are a key component of the country’s merchandise exports, covering products such as industrial machinery, automobiles and auto components, electrical equipment, iron and steel products, and other manufactured goods.
EEPC India highlighted the sector’s ability to sustain export growth despite challenges in the global trading environment. The positive performance reflects the importance of Indian engineering manufacturers in international supply chains and their efforts to expand their presence across overseas markets.
The engineering export sector also benefits from opportunities arising from supply-chain diversification, infrastructure development and demand for industrial equipment in emerging and developed economies.
Sustaining this momentum will depend on improving product quality, strengthening manufacturing capabilities, expanding market access and maintaining competitiveness against international suppliers.
The September performance offers an encouraging signal for India’s engineering export industry as the country seeks to expand its global trade footprint and achieve its broader merchandise export ambitions.
