EVER EON, a newly delivered Post-Suezmax class container vessel operated by Evergreen Marine Corporation, made its maiden call at the Colombo East Container Terminal (ECT) of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), marking a significant operational milestone for both the vessel and the port.
Built in 2025 by Samsung Heavy Industries in the Republic of Korea, EVER EON sails under the Singapore flag and is owned and commercially operated by Evergreen Marine, one of the world’s leading liner shipping groups. The vessel measures approximately 369 metres in length with a beam of about 54 metres and a deadweight exceeding 180,000 tonnes, placing it among the new generation of ultra-large container ships designed for high-volume, long-haul trades.
The vessel is equipped with fuel-efficient propulsion systems, advanced navigation technologies and environmentally compliant features in line with current IMO regulations, supporting sustainable and efficient global operations. Its first call at Colombo underscores Evergreen Marine’s strategy of deploying modern tonnage on major international trade routes.
The Port of Colombo continues to strengthen its position as a key maritime and logistics hub in the Indian Ocean, leveraging its strategic location along major east–west shipping lanes connecting Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The SLPA-operated East Container Terminal offers deep-water berths, state-of-the-art ship-to-shore gantry cranes and advanced terminal operating systems, enabling it to handle the world’s largest container vessels.
Aerial drone images captured by the SLPA team showcase EVER EON alongside the ECT, highlighting both the vessel’s scale and the terminal’s modern infrastructure.
