The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will roll out the much-awaited FASTag Annual Pass on August 15, offering frequent highway travellers a more convenient and cost-effective way to pay tolls.
Under the new plan, private cars, jeeps, and vans can make up to 200 toll crossings — or enjoy a full year’s travel, whichever comes first — for a one-time payment of ₹3,000. The initiative aims to cut down on repeated recharges, speed up toll transactions, and reduce congestion at plazas.
Announced in June, the prepaid plan is designed exclusively for non-commercial vehicles. It links directly to the user’s existing FASTag and will be valid only on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) operated by NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Toll plazas on state highways and municipal roads are not covered.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said the move addresses “long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas within a 60 km range” and will simplify payments through a single, affordable transaction.
How to buy:
Motorists can purchase the pass via the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI/MoRTH website by logging in with their vehicle number and FASTag ID, and paying ₹3,000 through UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking. Activation will be confirmed via SMS on August 15.
Key rules:
Only for private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans).
Non-transferable and non-refundable.
Limited to NHAI/MoRTH-operated NH and NE toll plazas.
Valid for 200 trips or one year, whichever comes first.
No auto-renewal — users must reapply after expiry.
The pass is expected to particularly benefit daily commuters and those who frequently travel on major national corridors such as the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Mumbai–Nashik Highway, and Mumbai–Surat route.
