Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has expanded its Middle East road transportation capabilities to handle eligible dangerous goods across five Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets: the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

The new capability is available through FedEx Regional Economy and Regional Economy Freight services, enabling businesses to transport regulated materials across the region, subject to applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.

The service is designed to support industries with specialised logistics needs, including healthcare and life sciences, energy and petrochemicals, high technology, and beauty and personal care. Eligible shipments include laboratory reagents, diagnostic samples, dry ice, chemicals, lithium batteries and selected healthcare materials.

Under the expanded offering, customers can access day-definite delivery, customs-cleared transportation, end-to-end shipment tracking and dedicated dangerous goods handling procedures. The service supports both lightweight parcels and heavyweight palletised freight, depending on shipment eligibility.

FedEx’s Middle East Road Network connects with its wider international operations through its regional hub at Dubai World Central (DWC) airport. The hub integrates air and road transportation across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, strengthening connectivity for cross-border shipments.

The company operates a dedicated fleet of vehicles registered under the international TIR road transport system. Shipments are GPS-tracked, with customs-cleared movements monitored around the clock through a dedicated control tower to provide visibility throughout the transportation process.

According to FedEx, the expansion will give businesses greater flexibility in moving critical and regulated commodities across GCC markets while supporting safer, more compliant and resilient supply chains.

The initiative strengthens FedEx’s regional logistics portfolio as intra-GCC trade and industrial activity create demand for specialised cross-border freight solutions.
