In a significant push to strengthen India–Africa trade ties, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), in collaboration with DP World, hosted an interactive session titled “Exploring Export Potential of the African Market with Bharat Africa Setu” in Mumbai.
The session focused on building a cost-effective trade bridge to tap into Africa’s estimated USD 430 billion import market. With a clear vision to double India’s export share to Africa from 6.5% to 12% by 2030, the initiative aims to empower Indian exporters with streamlined logistics solutions and enhanced market access through the Bharat Africa Setu platform.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Khushwant Jain, Regional Chairman (WR), FIEO (WR), underscored the immense untapped potential in African markets and highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in boosting India’s export footprint.
Mr. Mohammed Akoojee, CEO and Managing Director – Sub-Saharan Africa Region, DP World, elaborated on the company’s strong logistics network across Africa and emphasized how Bharat Africa Setu can serve as a seamless trade gateway for Indian exporters. Mr. William Sears, Chief Commercial Officer – Logistics, DP World, and Mr. Zeeshan Mukhi, Vice President – Freight Forwarding, DP World, shared insights on integrated logistics solutions designed to reduce costs and enhance supply chain efficiency.
Mr. Backiyavelu Mutharasu, Deputy DGFT, Mumbai, provided regulatory insights and outlined government support mechanisms available to exporters. Mr. Mrigank Gupta, Managing Committee Member, FIEO, and Mr. Rishi Kant Tiwari, Director & Regional Head, FIEO (WR), also addressed the session, encouraging exporters to strategically leverage the Bharat Africa Setu platform for expanding their footprint in the African region.
The interactive session witnessed strong participation from exporters and industry stakeholders, marking another step forward in strengthening India–Africa trade relations and accelerating export-led growth.
