In a bid to accelerate the development of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), the Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has presented a comprehensive set of proposals to Shipping Secretary T.K. Ramachandran during a recent visit. The chamber emphasized the need for infrastructure improvements to enhance the port’s efficiency and competitiveness.
Key demands from the GCCI include the construction of a Coastal Highway to reduce cargo dwell time, the formulation of a Land Policy for Gandhidham-Adipur townships to stimulate development, and the expansion of Kandla Airport to accommodate larger aircraft. Additionally, the chamber has advocated for greater industry representation on the DPA board, PPP models for jetties, and simplified land conversion processes.
The GCCI stressed the importance of modernizing DPA to meet international standards and handle increased traffic. Shipping Secretary Ramachandran assured the chamber of positive consideration for the proposed measures.
The meeting was attended by prominent members of the GCCI, including Immediate Past President TejaKangad, and senior officials from DPA.
This collaboration between the industry and the government is expected to play a crucial role in transforming DPA into a world-class port and driving economic growth in the region.
