Greta Shipping and Hapag-Lloyd are set to reinstate their joint India Gulf (IG1) service, enhancing connectivity between the Indian subcontinent and the Gulf region, according to shipping intelligence platform DynaLiners.
The reinstated service will feature an expanded port rotation with the addition of Karachi (Pakistan) and Sohar (Oman), providing broader regional coverage and improved trade links across South Asia and the Middle East.
The revised port rotation will be:
Kandla – Nhava Sheva – Karachi – Khor Fakkan – Sohar – Kandla
The IG1 service will be operated by three container vessels of approximately 2,500 TEU capacity, offering regular and reliable sailings for regional cargo movements.
The enhanced network is expected to strengthen maritime trade between India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman, while improving service flexibility and transit options for exporters and importers serving these key markets.
The reinstatement of the IG1 service reflects continued demand for efficient regional feeder and short-sea shipping services, supporting growing trade volumes and supply chain connectivity across the Gulf and the Indian subcontinent.
