Gulftainer has signed an agreement with United Al Saqer Heavy Equipment LLC, part of one of Abu Dhabi’s established business groups, for the acquisition of 1,000 trucks to expand its distribution capacity and strengthen its logistics network across the UAE and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The first 450 trucks are expected to be delivered before the end of November 2026, with the remaining fleet scheduled to follow in the first quarter of 2027, according to Gulftainer’s Group Chief Executive Officer.
As part of the partnership, United Al Saqer will invest in, develop and operate what is planned to become the largest state-of-the-art truck workshop on the UAE’s East Coast. The facility will be located in Al Dhaid and is intended to meet the growing maintenance requirements of trucking operations in the region.
The partnership will also support the development of facilities where truck drivers can rest and access essential services, addressing the need for supporting infrastructure alongside the expansion of freight transport activities on the East Coast.
In a separate development, Gulftainer and United Al Saqer Group have signed a lease agreement for the development of a 100,000-square-metre dedicated Automotive Logistics Park within the Khorfakkan Al Dhaid Free Economic Zone (KAFEZ).
The proposed park will support United Al Saqer Group’s automotive logistics and distribution requirements across the UAE and GCC markets, benefiting from the operational advantages of a free-zone location.
Under the planned logistics model, vehicles arriving through UAE East Coast ports, including Khorfakkan, will be transported to Al Dhaid for storage, handling and onward distribution across the UAE and the wider GCC region.
The integrated arrangement is expected to strengthen the logistics corridor connecting Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid by bringing together port operations, road transportation, vehicle storage, maintenance infrastructure and distribution services.
The initiative forms part of Gulftainer’s broader strategy to develop an integrated logistics ecosystem around Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid, extending beyond port capacity expansion to create interconnected infrastructure and business opportunities that support regional trade and distribution.
