    German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new Emergency Space Contingency (ESC) surcharge for reefer cargo from Chile, Peru and Ecuador to West Africa.

    The surcharge of US$300 per container will apply from 1 December to all reefer boxes and will be valid until further notice.

    Hapag-Lloyd noted that the West Africa region includes Angola, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (D.R.C.), Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Mauretania, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Senegal.
