Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has called upon industries, MSMEs, farmers and entrepreneurs to capitalise on India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), explore new international markets and strengthen their global competitiveness. Addressing a state-level FTA outreach workshop through a video message in Gurugram, he reiterated the state government’s commitment to doubling Haryana’s exports over the next five years.

Haryana recorded merchandise exports of USD 20.57 billion in FY 2025–26, registering annual growth of 7.66% and accounting for 4.66% of India’s total merchandise exports. Ranked sixth among States and Union Territories, Haryana exports products to more than 200 countries and territories.

Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh stressed that global competitiveness depends on product quality, technology, productivity and sustainable manufacturing, alongside competitive pricing. He highlighted the potential of Haryana’s automotive, engineering, textiles, apparel, agriculture, food processing, footwear and machinery sectors to expand their participation in global value chains.

Commissioner and Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Dr. Amit Kumar Agrawal, said Gurugram alone contributes approximately USD 8.33 billion, or nearly 40% of Haryana’s merchandise exports, supported by its manufacturing, engineering, IT/ITeS and Global Capability Centre ecosystem.

The state is strengthening exporter support through its dedicated Market Development and Export Promotion Cell, the Haryana Progressive MSME and Export Promotion Policy, 2026, and the GIFT Cell under the RAMP programme. Assistance includes financial support, quality certification, freight assistance, international trade fair participation, digital market linkages and export facilitation.

Organised by the Directorate of MSME, Haryana, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and the regional offices of DGFT, with ITPO as knowledge partner, the workshop focused on helping businesses understand FTA benefits, tariff concessions, Rules of Origin, non-tariff barriers and export procedures.

Technical sessions covered international market opportunities, export procedures, the Trade Connect e-Platform, the Export Promotion Mission and the Districts as Export Hubs initiative. Sector-specific discussions focused on textiles and apparel, leather and footwear, agriculture and food processing, engineering goods, automobiles and auto components, with participation from industry bodies and Export Promotion Councils, including AEPC, TEXPROCIL and ACMA.

The initiative aims to translate India’s expanding trade agreements into tangible opportunities for Haryana’s businesses through stronger institutional support, market intelligence and industry-government collaboration, accelerating export growth and enhancing the state’s integration into global supply chains.
