On September 27, 2023, at 1300 hours, the vessel MV Yihui Xin Hai carrying approximately 3065 metric tons of raw cashew arrived at Kandla Port. This momentous occasion represents a bold departure from convention, as raw cashew has long been the stronghold of South Indian ports. Tristar Logistics (I) Pvt. Ltd. was the port agent, while stevedore and cargo handling agent was Inayat Cargo Services.
For the first time in the history of Deendayal Port, raw cashew arrived as a “maidan cargo.” The move by local importers to bring raw cashew via Kandla Port challenges the monopoly held by South Indian ports in this specific cargo category.
