South Korean container carrier HMM has warned customers about potential delays for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, citing heightened security risks and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
In a customer advisory, the shipping line said the evolving situation in the Gulf could disrupt vessel movements and impact transit schedules for ships operating through the key maritime corridor. The company urged clients to remain alert to possible changes in shipping timelines and operational adjustments.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical shipping routes, linking the Persian Gulf with international markets. A significant share of global oil, liquefied natural gas and containerized cargo passes through the narrow waterway, making it highly sensitive to regional instability.
HMM said it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with maritime authorities and security agencies to ensure the safety of vessels and crew operating in the area. The company added that contingency measures may be implemented if the security environment deteriorates further.
