South Korea’s HMM has emerged as the buyer of a six-year-old 300,000 dwt, Hyundai Heavy-built tanker,  V Trust, now renamed Universal Honor. The mammoth has changed hands quietly with no price tag attached, but brokers estimate the ship will have cost just over $90m. The seller of the ship is Hong Kong’s Oriental Shipping & Investment, which exits the VLCC  trades with this sale.

Earlier this week, it is reported that HMM was the buyer of a ship sold by Oldendorff Carriers, grabbing its first newcastlemax for $46.5m, the 2016-built Henriette Oldendorff, a scrubber-fitted ship built at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang in China.

HMM,  which is mostly known for its containerships, which make up over 65% of its fleet, also owns nine VLCCs. The company is currently for sale, with at least four potential buyers lined up to snap up the country’s flagship line.
