Norwegian car carrier operator Höegh Autoliners has signed a five-year anti-jamming contract covering 38 vessels, strengthening the fleet’s resilience against growing risks to satellite-based navigation and communications.
The agreement is aimed at protecting the company’s vessels from GNSS jamming and spoofing, which can interfere with or manipulate satellite-navigation signals used by ships for positioning, navigation and other operational functions.
The maritime industry has faced increasing incidents of satellite-navigation interference in several regions. Jamming can prevent navigation receivers from obtaining reliable positioning information, while spoofing can provide false location data and potentially mislead onboard systems.
