Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), the leading port investor in Thailand, has further strengthened its operational capabilities at Laem Chabang Port with the delivery of three new remote control super post panamax quay cranes at its Terminal D facility in December 2025.

With the addition of these cranes, the total number of super post panamax quay cranes at Terminal D has increased to 17, supporting a quay length of 1,700 metres. The development marks the final phase of Terminal D’s expansion and significantly enhances HPT’s container-handling capacity and service offerings.

The upgraded terminal is now capable of accommodating three mega-vessels and one feeder vessel simultaneously, reinforcing Laem Chabang Port’s position as a key regional hub for global container trade. This milestone follows the deployment of seven remote control yard cranes at Terminal D in October 2025, completing a comprehensive suite of advanced, high-efficiency terminal equipment.

The new additions underline HPT’s commitment to operational excellence and the adoption of advanced technology across its terminals. Terminal D now features state-of-the-art remote control quay and yard cranes, along with autonomous electric trucks, enabling higher productivity, improved safety, and reduced environmental impact.

HPT recently also celebrated handling a cumulative 50 million TEUs since commencing operations in Thailand in 2002, reflecting its long-term commitment to sustainable growth and development in the country’s port and logistics sector.

With an operating capacity of 3.5 million TEUs, Terminal D is set to play a pivotal role in meeting rising trade volumes while advancing sustainability through enhanced safety standards and the increased use of electrically powered equipment.
