    Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal said that India and Tanzania can partner in the tourism, information technology, food security, agricultural, healthcare, and pharmaceutical sectors.

    Mr. Goyal said, “Tanzania is our biggest export destination in Africa. Over the next few years, we are looking to make this another very fast-growing growth story”, during the India-Tanzania Investment Forum hosted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). The President of Tanzania, Ms. Samia Suluhu Hassan was also present at the India Tanzania Investment Forum.

    He stated that the two sides have agreed to collaborate on several sectors such as large education, skill development, capacity building, climate action, trade settlement in local currencies and technology. He also mentioned that India had extended lines of credit to enable Tanzania’s infrastructure development and the establishment of utilities.

    Mr. Goyal stated that Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi is a strong supporter of bringing the Global South together on a single platform. Under his direction, the India-Africa alliance has prospered, and Prime Minister Mr. Modi’s efforts to create convergence on making the African Union a full member of the G20 have finally paid off.
