Indian Railways has enhanced logistics connectivity to the Kashmir Valley by facilitating the entry of Amazon through dedicated freight services operated by Northern Railway.

The initiative introduces a daily VP-based cargo service between Adarsh Nagar in the National Capital Region and Budgam in Kashmir, establishing a dependable two-way supply chain. The corridor allows seamless movement of goods from the NCR to the Valley, along with return cargo comprising regional products destined for markets in the capital.

The service ensures transportation in under 30 hours, marking a significant milestone in time-bound freight movement across the region’s challenging terrain and improving overall logistics efficiency.

By linking Kashmir with major consumption centres, the development is expected to accelerate e-commerce penetration, enhance product accessibility, and open new market opportunities for local producers.

The move reflects Indian Railways’ continued focus on modernising freight operations and strengthening integrated supply chains to support economic growth in remote and strategically important regions.
