Indian Railways conducted a successful trial run on the newly constructed Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge. This bridge connects Sangaldan in Ramban district to Reasi. Earlier, on Sunday, June 16, the Indian Railways had successfully conducted an engine trial run on this marvel of engineering.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the successful electric engine trial, emphasizing the progress made: “1st trial train has successfully run from Sangaldan to Reasi, including crossing the Chenab Bridge. All construction works for the USBRL are nearly finished, with only tunnel No.1 remaining partially incomplete.”

The 46-km Sangaldan-Reasi stretch would be inspected over two days by Commissioner of Railways Safety (CRS) D C Deshwal, as the ministry gets closer to its ambitious project, an official said on Sunday.
According to Deepak Kumar, Northern Railway’s chief public relations officer, the inspection is set for June 27 and 28. Kumar promised that the required tasks will be completed in time for the CRS inspection.
Chenab Bridge is constructed for a cost of Rs 14,000 crore and is expected to solve numerous issues. The project’s goal is to improve Jammu and Kashmir’s connectivity by offering connections in challenging weather and topography. The bridge is a component of the Rs 35000 crore UdhampurSrinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project, which attempts to improve connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
