India’s petroleum-product exports were estimated at $6.22 billion in September 2026, registering a 31.9% year-on-year increase from $4.71 billion in September 2025, despite a sequential decline from the previous two months.
Exports stood at $6.92 billion in July and $6.81 billion in August, indicating a moderation in export earnings in September after two stronger months.
The figures cover petroleum products as a whole and do not specify diesel exports separately, either in value or shipment volume. Therefore, the September estimate does not indicate the quantity of diesel exported during the month.
India’s petroleum-product exports remain an important component of the country’s energy trade, with domestic refining capacity supporting supplies to international markets.
Speaking at a forum in New Delhi on September 24, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stressed the importance of honouring export commitments.
“Once we have made a commitment to export, it is important that we honour that commitment,” Puri said.
The September figures highlight continued year-on-year growth in petroleum-product export earnings, even as monthly export values eased from the levels recorded in July and August.
