INOX India Ltd (INOXCVA), a leading cryogenic technology provider, has secured a major contract with Island Power Producers Limited (IPP) for designing, engineering, and supplying a Mini LNG receiving and regasification terminal in The Bahamas. The terminal,
which will store 15,000 m3 of LNG, will provide natural gas to IPP’s 60 MW power plant, supplying shore power to cruise ships docked at Nassau Cruise Port. The facility is set to become the largest installation of shop-built double-walled vacuum-insulated LNG storage tanks globally.
The project involves the supply of 10 vacuum-insulated tanks, each with a 1,500 m3 capacity, and a regasification system, making it the largest order for INOXCVA’s LNG division. “We are proud to play a key role at the global level in ushering the growing adoption of LNG,” said Siddharth Jain, Promoter and Non-Executive Director, INOX India Ltd. “Our partnership with Island Power Producers will enable us to build a model for LNG distribution for power generation and energy needs, with components manufactured in India.”
The contract coincides with INOXCVA’s recent completion of a similar LNG terminal in Antigua, emphasizing LNG’s role in powering remote locations. Chris Satterfield, Director, IPP said, “Island Power Producers and their project partners are proud to work with INOXCVA on this state-of-the-art modular LNG terminal at Arawak Cay, which serves as a template for low-carbon fuel supply in The Bahamas.” He added that this shift to LNG aims to help The Bahamas meet carbon reduction commitments, creating new opportunities for sustainable energy in the region.
Once operational, the Mini LNG Terminal will receive LNG through small ships and facilitate LNG reloading in ISO containers to supply other nearby LNG users, supporting the growing adoption of LNG as a cleaner fuel.
