At the flagging-off ceremony held today, Shri Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), described the newly launched Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vessel as a landmark step toward clean and sustainable transportation.

Calling the initiative a “breakthrough for the future of green mobility,” Shri Paliwal emphasised that the adoption of hydrogen-based propulsion will significantly reduce emissions and set new benchmarks for inland water operations across the country.

He also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s emerging leadership in strengthening India’s inland water transport ecosystem. Backed by rapid infrastructure development, multimodal connectivity, and a series of strategic initiatives, the state is positioning itself as a key driver in transforming waterways into efficient and environmentally responsible logistics corridors.

The introduction of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vessel marks a major stride in India’s push toward greener transportation. It aligns with the nation’s broader vision for sustainable, technology-driven infrastructure growth.
