Jakson Green, an energy transition platform, will be shipping out their first green hydrogen electrolyser in a couple of months and is in advanced stages of partnering with technology
providers for electrolyser manufacturing, its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bikesh Ogra told.

“We are evaluating partnerships and have narrowed down a small pool of companies who are currently under evaluation for various technologies including PEM, AEM, or alkaline,” he said in an exclusive interaction.

Ogra added that the company will be shipping out their first electrolysers in a couple of months and the full-fledged production will begin in the next fiscal year. These partnerships will be for both, manufacturing in India as well as abroad.

“We are, therefore, in advanced stages for partnering with technology providers for green hydrogen electrolyser manufacturing,” he said.

The firm launched a 100-megawatt (MW) electrolyser manufacturing plant a few months back, which it now plans to raise to one gigawatt capacity, added Ogra.

The company is also in touch with maritime shipping lines to supply them with green methanol on ports. “We are always wanting to target 8-10 per cent of the overall mix of the total production of green molecules which is in the form of methanol, ethanol,” he said.

It is executing a 10-tonnes-per-day green methanol production plant with NTPC where it is capturing carbon dioxide from flue-gases of thermal power plants, making hydrogen through electrolysis, mixing it with reactor and producing green methanol.

The plant will get commissioned by the last quarter this year, he added.

Methanol is considered a cleaner alternative fuel, which can be used for various purposes, including power generation and transportation.

The company has set a target of 0.5 mmtpa capacity of green hydrogen and its derivatives production by 2030 and is participating in bids. “We are right now participating in a bid for a port land allocation at one of the green hydrogen hubs in India,” he said.

He added that the current scale of investments are not capital-intensive, since they are primarily pivoted around very early stage development processes such as environmental impact assessment, identification, getting into soft lease arrangements with the respective stakeholders, securing the load connectivity, preparing the DPR for the project.

“These early-stage developments are critical and would attract a healthy pool of partners.

For us right now the outgo is very meager in terms of the capital. We have been talking to a host of players to partner with us on both the equity as well as the debt side of it. So, our outgo would be the developmental costs which are very minimalistic,” said Ogra.

Apart from the company’s recent MoU with the Rajasthan government to set up a green hydrogen and green ammonia project in phases, they are also looking at states such as Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Orissa for export oriented scale up, he added.
