DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port handled a record 630,000 tonnes of breakbulk cargo in October 2025, marking the highest monthly total in nearly two decades.

The milestone reflects renewed industrial and construction activity in the UAE, with increased imports of iron and steel for projects such as the Dubai Metro Blue Line and the DWC airport expansion, alongside rising sugar exports.

Following a strong 2024 performance, when breakbulk volumes grew 23 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 5.36 million tonnes, the new record highlights the UAE’s growing role in global trade and the port’s continuing momentum across multiple cargo categories.

Shahab Al Jassmi, Chief Commercial Officer, Ports & Terminals at DP World GCC, said: “This milestone demonstrates the confidence businesses place in Jebel Ali as the region’s most reliable gateway.

“Rising volumes show how we are helping customers meet growing infrastructure demand  while keeping supply chains efficient and resilient. We remain committed to expanding capacity, technology, and sustainability initiatives to support long-term growth.”

Breakbulk cargo, including heavy and oversized materials for large-scale construction and industrial projects, continues to be a core part of Jebel Ali’s operations.

Leveraging Jafza’s integrated ecosystem and global logistics capabilities, DP World ensures seamless movement of complex cargo across regional and international supply chains.

In August, DP World expanded its automotive logistics capacity to meet growing demand at Jebel Ali Port, with the launch of a new 2.6 million square foot vehicle storage yard at Terminal 4.
