JSW Infrastructure has officially commissioned its Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Arakkonam in Chennai, marking a significant milestone in enhancing regional logistics infrastructure.

The company has received approval to commence commercial operations at the terminal effective 14 April 2026. According to a regulatory filing, the green light was granted by the Indian Railways through its Southern Railway division, which confirmed the successful commissioning of the facility.

The approval was communicated via email at approximately 9:45 a.m. on the same day, enabling immediate operational readiness.

JSW Infrastructure had earlier secured the Letter of Acceptance for the project on 27 June 2024. The terminal has been developed entirely on railway land, aligning with the government’s Gati Shakti initiative aimed at boosting integrated and efficient cargo movement across the country.

The Arakkonam terminal is expected to strengthen multimodal connectivity in the region, streamline cargo handling, and support increased rail-based freight movement, contributing to overall logistics efficiency in southern India.
