Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) has achieved a new milestone by handling 11,240 TEUs from a single container vessel, setting a new record among ports on the East Coast of India.
The record was achieved on September 21, 2026, at the Container Terminal operated by AECTPL, during the call of M.V. MSC PAMELA, deployed on the AEX/NEMO service.
The latest achievement surpasses KPL’s previous record of 10,563 TEUs, which was set in June 2026 during the call of a Maersk Line vessel operating under the ME2 service.
The handling of 11,240 TEUs from a single vessel highlights Kamarajar Port’s growing capacity to accommodate large container vessels and efficiently manage high-volume cargo operations. The milestone also reflects the port’s focus on operational efficiency, productivity and strengthening its position as a key container gateway on India’s East Coast.
KPL said the achievement underscores its commitment to providing world-class maritime and logistics services and supporting the increasing containerised trade requirements of the region.
