Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT) has achieved a historic milestone by handling 10 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo in a single financial year for the very first time since its inception.

As of 24 February, the terminal recorded an impressive throughput of 10,047,358 metric tonnes, surpassing its previous highest annual performance of 8,663,243 metric tonnes achieved in FY 2021–22. This landmark achievement reflects a significant year-on-year growth and reinforces KICT’s position as a key gateway for containerized trade on India’s western coast.

The record-breaking performance is attributed to enhanced operational efficiency, streamlined vessel turnaround times, robust hinterland connectivity, and strong collaboration among shipping lines, trade partners, logistics stakeholders, and port authorities. Continuous investments in infrastructure, equipment modernization, and process optimization have further strengthened the terminal’s cargo handling capabilities.

KICT’s achievement also underscores the growing maritime strength of the region and the rising confidence of EXIM trade in the terminal’s services. The milestone highlights the collective dedication and teamwork of the terminal workforce, management, and associated stakeholders who have contributed to setting a new benchmark in performance.

With this historic accomplishment, KICT is poised to further scale operations and support India’s expanding trade ambitions, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and customer-centric service delivery.
