The Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Shenzhen have signed a sister port memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on trade, port operations and sustainable maritime development. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between two of the world’s leading container gateways and promote greater efficiency across trans-Pacific supply chains.
Under the partnership, the ports will exchange expertise in areas such as digitalisation, smart port technologies, environmental sustainability and operational best practices. The collaboration is also expected to support innovation in cargo handling, logistics and emissions reduction initiatives.
The sister port agreement reinforces the long-standing trade relationship between the United States and China, with both ports playing a critical role in facilitating bilateral commerce. Industry stakeholders expect the partnership to improve knowledge sharing and foster new opportunities for maritime and logistics cooperation.
The MoU reflects the growing emphasis on international partnerships as ports seek to improve resilience, enhance service quality and accelerate the transition toward smarter and more sustainable port operations.
