The LPG tanker Pine Gas has been rerouted to Visakhapatnam (Vizag) in a strategic move aimed at expediting cargo delivery, according to shipping sources.

The change in course is understood to be driven by the need to ensure faster turnaround and timely discharge of liquefied petroleum gas amid evolving supply requirements. Vizag, with its efficient handling infrastructure and connectivity to key consumption centers, offers an advantage in reducing delivery timelines.

Market observers note that such mid-voyage diversions are increasingly being adopted by operators to optimize logistics and respond to dynamic demand patterns. The decision is also expected to help avoid potential congestion or delays at the originally designated port.

The Pine Gas is now expected to berth at Vizag shortly, with discharge operations likely to commence soon after arrival.
