Maersk has revised its Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments originating in the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East and destined for the United States and Canada, with the new rates effective from October 23, 2026.
The revised surcharges cover cargo moving to North American West Coast, East Coast and Gulf Coast destinations, with rates varying according to the destination and origin region.
For shipments to the US and Canadian West Coast, Maersk will levy a surcharge of US$3,400 per container across specified dry and reefer container types. The rate applies to 20-foot and 40-foot dry containers, 40-foot high-cube dry containers, 45-foot high-cube dry containers, 20-foot reefer containers and 40-foot high-cube reefer containers.
For dry containers moving to the US East Coast, Gulf Coast and Canadian East Coast, the revised PSS is US$5,150 per container for shipments originating in Northwest India, Nepal and Bhutan to all ports except Houston. The surcharge applies to 20-foot dry, 40-foot dry, 40-foot high-cube and 45-foot high-cube containers.
For shipments from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan to Houston, Maersk has set the surcharge at US$5,700 per container for the same dry container categories.
The revised surcharge applies to shipments originating in the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bhutan, India, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
The revision comes as carriers adjust peak-season pricing for cargo moving from the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to North American markets.
