Electric fleet operator Magenta Mobility has partnered with Tata Motors to deploy 500 units of the Ace EV into the logistics space. The company said that it is aiming at deploying over 10,000 EVs on the Indian road by the end of next year.

The Ace EV is powered by a 21.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that produces 36 hp and 130 Nm of torque. The electric commercial vehicle boasts of a certified range of 154 km on a single charge. Further, the battery pack on this EV can be juiced from 10% to 80% in 105 minutes using a fast charger.

The Ace EV has a payload capacity of 600 kg and a gross weight of 1840 kg. It comes with a container load body for secure transport of goods. The vehicle also features a number of driver-friendly features, such as an electronic drive mode, power steering, and air conditioning, which isn’t common in the commercial vehicle segment in India.

At present, the company has presence in cities such as Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Surat, managing a fleet of over 1,200 electric vehicles catering to clients across various sectors, including ecommerce, grocery delivery, FMCG, food, and pharmaceuticals for their last-mile deliveries.

The demand for the electric vehicles has been persistently increasing, especially in the first-and-last-mile logistics sector, despite the several challenges the EV ecosystem faces in the country at the moment.
