Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML), India’s leading electric three-wheeler company, has unveiled its latest innovation in the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the launch of the Mahindra ZEO. The new electric four-wheeler SCV, dubbed the “Zero Emission Option” or ZEO, is designed to meet the rising demands of urban logistics while promoting eco-friendly transportation.

With two available variants, the Mahindra ZEO is positioned as an affordable and efficient solution for businesses in need of sustainable last-mile transportation. Priced from ₹7.52 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), the ZEO is competitively positioned in the commercial vehicle market. Mahindra claims that over a span of seven years, customers could save up to ₹7 lakh compared to diesel-powered small commercial vehicles (SCVs).

The vehicle’s engineering reflects a clear focus on performance and efficiency. Powered by a high-voltage 300+V architecture, the Mahindra ZEO offers superior energy efficiency, a higher driving range, and faster charging capabilities. Equipped with a 21.3 kWh liquid-cooled battery, the ZEO boasts a top speed of 60 km/h and can carry payloads of up to 765 kg, making it suitable for a range of urban delivery needs.

The Mahindra ZEO offers a real-world driving range of 160 km, with additional range-boosting capabilities thanks to a regenerative braking system. Two driving modes, Eco and Power, allow drivers to optimize efficiency based on load and road conditions. For charging, the vehicle comes with a standard on-board 3.3 kW charger, but offers flexibility with DC fast-charging options, enabling a 100 km range with just a 60-minute charge.

A notable feature of the Mahindra ZEO is its 32% gradeability, the highest in its segment, ensuring easy navigation of steep urban gradients. Designed for the driver’s convenience, the vehicle includes a smart gear shifter, an automatic transmission, and a “Creep Function” to ease the burden of stop-and-go city traffic. Its compact turning radius of 4.3 meters enhances maneuverability in tight spaces, making it ideal for urban environments.

The Mahindra ZEO is equipped with the NEMO (Next-Gen Mobility) telematics system, which allows for real-time data monitoring. Available in two versions—NEMO Driver and NEMO Fleet Management System—the platform offers a range of services, from locating the nearest charging stations to monitoring fleet performance and managing vehicle servicing. The system is designed to help both individual drivers and fleet operators maximize the vehicle’s efficiency and operational productivity.

    Safety and Warranty Assurance

Safety remains a priority for Mahindra, and the ZEO incorporates several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) powered by an AI-enabled Driver Monitoring System (DMS). Features include lane departure warning, headway monitoring, driver behavior analysis, and pedestrian collision warnings. The vehicle also comes with Hill Hold Assist and a robust IP67-rated battery and motor to ensure high safety standards.

For customers concerned about long-term reliability, the Mahindra ZEO’s battery is covered by a sevenyear/150,000 km warranty. Additionally, the company offers two service plans—Mahindra Safar and Mahindra Safar Plus—that provide roadside assistance, extended vehicle warranties, and annual maintenance services.

    Sustainability and Future-Ready Logistics

The Mahindra ZEO’s semi-forward cabin design and factory-fitted delivery van box ensure cargo is transported securely, while the vehicle’s 180 mm ground clearance offers flexibility across varying road conditions. To further safeguard its customers, Mahindra’s UDAY Program includes a ₹10 lakh accidental insurance cover for drivers for the first three years.

Ms. Suman Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, expressed optimism about the ZEO’s potential. “The Mahindra ZEO is a perfect testament to our ethos of reimagining the last mile ecosystem with innovative technologies, reliable products, and integrated solutions. We are confident that the Mahindra ZEO will help accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the commercial segment below 2 tonnes.”

As India continues its transition to cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions, the Mahindra ZEO stands out as a promising step forward in the electric commercial vehicle market, catering to the specific needs of urban logistics.
