Homegrown logistics player Mahindra Logistics recently expressed appreciation for contemporary government initiatives aimed at improving conditions for drivers nationwide. The company’s CEO, Mr. Rampraveen Swaminathan, highlighted the significance of these measures in a recent statement.

The government’s introduction of a GPS-based electronic toll collection system on national highways has been commended by the organization. This innovative system promises a seamless flow of vehicles by eliminating the need to halt at toll booths. Leveraging GPS technology, it accurately calculates toll charges based on the actual distance covered, ensuring a smooth journey for drivers.

Rampraveen Swaminathan: Additionally, he appreciated the establishment of 1,000 driver rest facilities nationwide by the government. Recognizing the pivotal role of truck drivers
who cover over 2.8 million trucks and 100 billion kilometers annually, these state-of-the-art facilities aim to enhance driver well-being and working conditions. By addressing common health issues resulting from extended working hours, these facilities contribute to safer roads and reduced accidents.

Mahindra Logistics reaffirms its commitment to supporting drivers’ welfare through various initiatives, including specialized training programs and scholarship schemes. The company’s dedication reflects its mission to empower and uplift the essential workforce in India’s logistics and transportation industry, ensuring their well-being and safety on the road.
