Menzies Aviation has secured a ground handling license to provide passenger, ramp, and cargo services at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) in Malaysia. This marks a significant milestone for the company as it expands its footprint in Southeast Asia.
The license, which is valid for 12 months, was awarded to Menzies Aviation Malaysia, a joint venture between Menzies Aviation and MMAG Holdings, a Malaysian supply chain management company. The joint venture will commence ground handling services at the
airport in January 2025.
Menzies Aviation’s first customer at the airport will be MJets, a private aviation company. The company will provide ground handling services for more than 30 flights per week, starting in January 2025.
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) is the largest and busiest airport in Malaysia, serving as a major hub for the region. In 2023, the airport handled 47.2 million passengers, 980,040 tonnes of cargo, and 819,026 aircraft movements, ranking it as the 35thbusiest airport globally by total passenger traffic.
Menzies Aviation’s entry into the Malaysian market is a significant development for the company, as it seeks to expand its presence in Southeast Asia. The region is a key growth market for the aviation industry, with increasing demand for air travel and cargo services.
The company’s decision to establish a presence in Malaysia is also driven by the country’s strategic location, which makes it an important hub for trade and commerce in the region. Menzies Aviation’s expertise in ground handling services will enable it to provide high-quality services to airlines and cargo operators at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Menzies Aviation’s joint venture with MMAG Holdings is also an important aspect of its strategy in Malaysia. The partnership will enable the company to leverage MMAG’s local expertise and knowledge while also providing access to Menzies Aviation’s global network and expertise in ground handling services.
