The loading and unloading of goods at Mongla Port were resumed on Tuesday (May 28) after a suspension due to inclement weather caused by cyclone Remal.

Md Makruzzaman, deputy director at Mongla port authority confirmed the matter.

He said that the foreign ships anchored in the channel at Mongla port are safe. Vehicles, machinery and containers stored in sheds, wire houses and yards are safe in the jetty area. Operational activities have already started at the port.

Vessels plying in the channel are advised to proceed cautiously through Mongla port’s Vessel Traffic Management and Information System (VTMIS) due to the rough windy environment in the river, he added.
