Shri P. Jawahar, IAS, Chairman of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), held an interaction with representatives of the Seafood Exporters’ Association of India (SEAI), Andhra Pradesh Region, at the MPEDA Integrated Complex in Bhimavaram on August 18.

The meeting provided an important platform for seafood exporters to raise operational challenges, sectoral requirements and measures needed to strengthen seafood exports and aquaculture in Andhra Pradesh.

Key issues discussed included sampler registration and access to laboratories, financial assistance for Value Added Product (VAP) units, streamlining aquaculture farm enrolment, and integration of APSADA and MPEDA data. Exporters also highlighted requirements related to stocking and productivity, regulatory compliance and availability of labour for VAP production.

The discussions underscored the need for closer coordination between MPEDA and the seafood-exporting community to address industry concerns and facilitate a more efficient and supportive business environment.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides emphasising stronger collaboration to promote sustainable growth, improve operational efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of Andhra Pradesh’s seafood export sector.
