Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMPA) marked a significant operational milestone with the arrival of MV CL LIANYUNGANG at the newly commissioned M/s GBTPL PPP Terminal. The vessel is discharging 35,842 metric tonnes (MT) of coking coal for Tata Steel Ltd., reinforcing the port’s growing role in supporting India’s core industries through efficient and sustainable logistics solutions.
The call highlights the enhanced capabilities of the modernised PPP terminal, equipped with Electric Mobile Harbour Cranes and advanced cargo-handling infrastructure. The deployment of electric cranes underscores SMPA’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions while improving turnaround time and operational efficiency.
Sharing his views, Shri Rathendra Raman, Chairperson, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, said, “With advanced electric harbour cranes and modern infrastructure, SMPA continues to enhance operational efficiency, support industry and contribute to India’s vision of green and resilient maritime logistics.”
The Chairperson congratulated the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) team led by Shri A. Jayasimbha, MD, along with M/s GBTPL, valued trade partners and all stakeholders for their coordinated efforts in achieving this milestone.
