The North Eastern Railway (NER) has recorded steady growth in freight loading, earning over ₹360 crore in revenue till the third quarter of the current financial year 2025–26, CPRO, NER, Pankaj Kumar Singh said on Tuesday.

According to official data, the zone loaded a total of 3.247 million tonnes of freight up to December 2025, generating ₹360.81 crore in revenue. In December 2025 alone, NER loaded 0.307 million tonnes of freight, earning ₹37.043 crore.

Railway officials and employees attributed the growth to improved facilities provided to traders and industrial units, along with systematic efforts by business development units at the headquarters and divisional levels.

The performance marks a 6.88 per cent increase over the corresponding period of the previous financial year. During the third quarter of FY 2024–25, the zone had loaded 3.038 million tonnes of freight. Similarly, freight loading in December 2025 rose by 6.23 per cent compared to 0.289 million tonnes loaded in December last year.

CPRO said the achievement was the result of coordinated efforts by officers and staff and expressed confidence that the upward trend in freight loading would continue in the coming months.
