India’s flag carrier Air India and Germany-based aviation group Lufthansa Group have signed a new agreement aimed at significantly expanding connectivity between India and Europe.
The partnership is expected to broaden codeshare arrangements across multiple routes, enabling passengers to access a wider network of destinations through coordinated schedules and seamless transfers. Under the pact, travelers will benefit from improved flight options linking major Indian cities with key European hubs including Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and Vienna.
Officials from both carriers said the agreement will strengthen commercial cooperation, enhance customer experience and support growing demand for business and leisure travel between the two regions. The expanded network is also expected to improve cargo connectivity, offering more capacity and routing flexibility for high-value shipments moving between India and Europe.
The collaboration comes amid rising bilateral trade and tourism flows, as well as India’s ongoing aviation sector expansion. By leveraging Lufthansa Group’s strong European network and Air India’s rapidly growing domestic and international footprint, the airlines aim to offer more competitive and efficient travel options.
The new pact underscores the strategic importance of India–Europe air corridors, positioning both carriers to capture increasing passenger and freight demand across one of the world’s fastest-growing long-haul markets.
