The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) has advanced Bihar’s industrial development with the inauguration of Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL) at Bodh Gaya, marking a major step towards establishing an integrated manufacturing and industrial hub in the state.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the project and unveiled the BIMCGL logo, official website and Integrated Land Allotment Portal. The event also served as a curtain raiser for the first Bihar Business Connect 2027, aimed at attracting investments and strengthening the state’s industrial ecosystem.
The Chief Minister highlighted Bodh Gaya’s potential to evolve beyond its significance as a global centre of spiritual tourism into a destination for industrial growth and investment.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary acknowledged NICDC’s role in planning and developing the industrial city, while Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi reiterated the Centre’s commitment to supporting manufacturing, MSMEs and employment generation. Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Bihar Vidhan Sabha Speaker Prem Kumar also attended the event.
Bihar Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh stressed the importance of providing essential infrastructure, including water, power and land, to develop the industrial city as a plug-and-play manufacturing hub, enabling businesses to establish operations with the necessary facilities in place.
1,670-Acre Industrial Hub Planned
The Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya is being developed by NICDC under the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). Spread across 1,670 acres in Dobhi, Gaya district, the project is the largest under the corridor and has an estimated investment potential of ₹16,500 crore. It is expected to generate around 1.10 lakh employment opportunities.
BIMCGL, a 50:50 joint venture between the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), will oversee project implementation. Its responsibilities include coordinated planning, statutory clearances, utility connectivity and investor facilitation.
The Integrated Land Allotment Portal is intended to improve transparency and streamline the process of allocating land to investors, supporting a more efficient investment environment.
With its focus on manufacturing infrastructure, industrial investment and employment generation, the project is expected to strengthen Bihar’s position as an emerging industrial destination. It also aligns with the broader national objective of building a developed India by 2047 under the Viksit Bharat vision.
