NorthPort has advanced plans to upgrade Pier 14 as part of its broader strategy to improve port resilience and modernize critical maritime infrastructure.
The enhancement project is aimed at strengthening the pier’s structural capacity and improving its ability to withstand extreme weather conditions and rising operational demands. Port authorities said the upgrade will also extend the service life of the facility while ensuring safer and more efficient cargo handling operations.
Planned improvements include reinforcement of the pier structure, modernization of cargo-handling equipment, and upgrades to utilities and support systems. These measures are expected to improve operational reliability and support higher cargo volumes in the coming years.
Officials noted that the Pier 14 project forms part of NorthPort’s long-term infrastructure investment program focused on building more resilient and sustainable port facilities.
