The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA), a partnership of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma in the United States, reported 234,875 TEUs in July, translating to a year-over-year decrease of 9.9%.

NWSA said that full imports remained relatively steady (+0.2%), while full exports fell by 7.6% in the previous month.

“The year-over-year comparisons continue to reflect the pandemic-driven conditions of 2022 and ongoing soft import demand relative to last year,” pointed out NWSA in an announcement.

Furthermore, total TEUs declined 21.2% year-to-date (YTD) to 1,631,448 TEUs, with full imports and exports declining 25.7% and 4.3%, respectively.

NWSA noted it finished first in the West Coast Ports category and highest in the Ease of Doing Business and Value categories amongst west coast ports in Logistics Management Quest for Quality Awards, being among 13 ports to receive the distinction this year.
